September- Shanghai Girls

It's the SMART bookclub home page!!
Enjoyed this book, brought back memories of our trip to China last year. Shanghai is as much different today, as I hope, our attitudes!

Heard about a good book from my sister Debbie, here is her e-mail.....We read the book called The Help (by Kathryn Stockett?) this month for book club and everyone actually finished it and liked it. You should mention it at your book club. It is a story about three white families and the black ‘help’ that they have and how they were treated, etc. It is set in the early 1960’s.

I just finished a wonderful book about the people of the Island of Guernsey off the coast of England during WWII. It's heartwarming and written in a unique way. Makes you want to live with these people. "The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society". When I first saw the title I thought it would be another ladies group for quilting or the ya ya's - done to death -but it's not.
